4 Reasons why you should holiday here this year

Because you get to see more of this, that’s why!

Because you get to see more of this, that’s why!

Have your travel plans been disrupted in 2020? The good (amazing!) news is, we have a pretty special backyard to explore!

Here are the reasons why we are excited to explore our own backyard and the reasons why we should:

  1. The Food

Oh, the food! How lucky are we in Tasmania to have access to and to be able to enjoy some of the most delicious and fresh produce in the world? Whether you are a seafood aficionado, perhaps prefer a plant based diet or you’ll quite happily sample anything and everything on the menu, there’s no doubt that there is a food business for you on our little island state.

Why not spend a weekend in the south of the state exploring the restaurant scene in our capital? Pop into The Den Salamanca for fresh, Asian inspired tasting plates topped off with a refreshing cocktail from their extensive list. Then stroll along to The Glass House for a nightcap.

Planning a stay in the north? The Tamar Valley region is home to an abundance of quirky and cool restaurants and cafes. Take a seat at Timbre Kitchen to dine on shared plates of smoke roasted pork belly and the tastiest cheese on toast you’ll ever try. Then enjoy lunch opposite a leafy park in Launceston at Geronimo for a European inspired menu featuring fresh Tassie fare.

And of course there are all the other special little nooks and crannies just waiting to be explored!

2. The Environment

Need we say more? We have some of the most stunning coastline and natural wilderness in the world. Whether it’s the fiery lichen of the Bay of Fires, the rugged wilderness of the central plateau or of course the sparkling blue hues of Wineglass Bay. Jump in the car and explore - go on! …

(Once you’ve finished reading, of course)

3. Support our Local Tourism Buddies

Now, more than ever, our local businesses need our support. The pandemic has had many different effects across many industries, so the best thing we can do is get out there and show our support by dining out, staying a night or two, trying a different experience or buying locally. Every little bit helps so let’s all show our support! Ever wanted to try a segway or whiz through the trees? Head to Hollybank Adventures. A museum and art gallery experience like no other, Mona is a must when you are in Tasmania. A spot of golf is always a great idea so why not swing a club by the sea at Barnbougle.

…And the list goes on!

4. Explore on Foot

Of course, our favourite way to see, explore and experience our island state is on foot. How else can you smell the native smells, feel the earth beneath your feet and take in stunning scenery? If you’re not sure where to go or how to prepare for your walking experience, get in touch and we’ll send you a detailed packing list to make sure you have everything you need. A guided walk is a great way to get the most out of your walking experience if you’re only just getting started. A professional guide can lead the way, point out highlights you may miss if you’re on your own and of course answer any questions you may have! We are sure that once you embark on your first walking journey, you’ll be hooked.
